Review: Goodnight Lab: A Scientific Parody

Goodnight Lab: A Scientific Parody Goodnight Lab: A Scientific Parody by Chris Ferrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A cute parody of Goodnight Moon, without any disrespect towards the original, in my opinion. A great book for scientifically minded parents to have fun reading to their child.

Always love a good bluestocking romance, especially when...oh, that would be a spoiler...
I've enjoyed the Dukes of War books I've read and hope to finish the series.

Review: The Major's Faux Fiancée

The Major's Faux Fiancée The Major's Faux Fiancée by Erica Ridley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was the first Dukes of War series' book I read, and I was hooked! I love the mischief and fun in this series. They're fast reads with characters I find interesting, so I aim to read them all and recommend them for anyone who likes endearing romances, although they have adult scenes.

I started reading the Dukes of War series in the middle and had to go back for this one. They're fun and cute romances with humor, adventure, and mischief. I have really enjoyed watching the characters develop from book to book and recommend not only this title, but the whole series.

Review: Strong Hearts Are Mandatory: Heart of Glass

Strong Hearts Are Mandatory: Heart of Glass Strong Hearts Are Mandatory: Heart of Glass by Teelia Pelletier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is the fantastic effort of an eighteen year old author. The story involves magic, a quest to save the characters' world, and fantastic world-building. The characters are full, rich, and ones you can relate to, with the narrator evolving throughout the story. A rich and wonderful read, especially if you like cats. Recommended for advanced middle graders, I would put the book in the young adult section of a library for the violence. The author started out as a Warrior Cat fan, but this is a much richer fantasy novel in a different world, and involves many more sentient, intelligence species, as well as a rich mythology in the Prologue. It is the first of six volumes, but you should look for the upcoming web comics on the author's DeviantArt page, too: http://teelia.deviantart.com/. Here is the YouTube channel to watch her animations of Mandatory and bits of the web comic that is like a spinoff, or separate arc of the Mandatory series. It's so involved!! https://www.youtube.com/ladyteelia
A must read!!

Review: Murder at Merisham Lodge

Murder at Merisham Lodge Murder at Merisham Lodge by Celina Grace
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really liked this mystery, and hope to read more of Celina Grace's mystery series. Joan is not overly likable in the beginning, a bit whiny, but the read is good and the plot is, too.

Review: Sees Behind Trees

Sees Behind Trees Sees Behind Trees by Michael Dorris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The works of Michael Dorris are treasures. I have read Guests, and other works, and can now add Sees Behind Trees to the list. This book is good for all ages. It tells an interesting mystical story with wonderful characterizations. I love the interactions between the characters, and also the workings of Walnut's mind as he becomes Sees Behind Trees. A wonderful story.

Review: Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I had never read this!! Always wanted to...but, alas, I had yet to make time for such an occurrence, and "La!" the effort has finally prevailed and the feat been accomplished! Now I can watch the movie, too...

If you haven't heard of Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy...I wonder about you. It is a period piece, but the characters are eternal. We still play the same games, even if we don't yet speak the same way.

A must read.

Review: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2 Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts 1 & 2 by John Tiffany
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I've heard negative reviews on this, but I loved it and highly recommend it! I enjoyed the next generation and thought the adults stayed in character as to what I thought they'd be as adults.
